FAQs
The importance of human rights education for youth is increasingly recognized.

An intergovernmental conference on human rights education held by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna in March 2004 recommended that schools undertake education in human rights and children's rights1. "Human rights education should be included in all school curricula starting from the earliest years of education. It should be mandatory particularly for secondary school education," the conference urged.

The conference also recommended that "In human-rights education, particularly in promoting tolerance and countering discrimination, non-traditional methods such as dance and music should also be employed."

YHRI has developed a lesson plan that educators can use in teaching human rights to young people.
